Manchester - Melbourne in J

Hi Folks

I need to fly from MAN to MEL in November in Business. I want to use OW. Options seem to be:

1) Qatar
Pros: very good schedule and price. Cons: MAN-DOH not guaranteed flat bed

2) Cathay
Pros: good seats all the way, schedule OK. More expensive than Qatar

3) Quantas
Pros: good seats and schedule, but some legs operated by Emirates, so no TP or Avios

Have I got the basic elements of the choice right?

Cheers
Jono

More options if you leave from LHR
BA LHR-SIN-SYD then QF SYD-MEL
You can fly Qantas QF aircraft LHR-DXB-MEL

My understanding is that QF flights on EK metal get avios but not TP's (but may be incorrect)

QF code shares on EK do earn both TP and Avios - check the small print on the BA website.

You may want to check fares ex DUB or even OSL.

Thanks all. Flying out of LHR adds an unnecessary connection. You are right Mwenenzi and GK, I checked and it seems that Avios are credited on EK codeshares with QF, but I also need the status points. It looks like it's going to be Cathay. I wonder when BA are going to notice that they are losing quite a lot of regional traffic to big competitors like Cathay and Qatar.
