Had to happen some day I guess
In another thread (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/onewo...tw-ex-jnb.html), it was pointed out that ex-Sth Africa fares had increased
I've just checked the ex-Australia fares and looks like they have increased too. For example the DONE4 base fare has increased from AUD11,999 to AUD13,199
Might be a general increase?
(though ex-Egypt DONE4 appears unchanged at EGP44000)

Changes based on currency conversion rates now happen more or less continuously. Pick an xONEx fare and watch it on EF daily and you'll see what I mean. Myanmar. Lesson learned.

And the weakness of the dollar isn't helping. The price on an ex-JNB AONE4 went from $9,007 to $9,217 in the past couple of days. I've seen it adjust the other way, too; but right now the dollar seems to be weakening against ZAR.

Look like ex-Australia fares have increased
According to ExpertFlyer, these increases happened last October, but none of us noticed
These are the new base fares

New Oneworld Explorer Fares ex-Australia - from Oct-2023
Compared to the previous fares, these represent increases of:
AUD600-800 for Economy
AUD2100-3000 for Business
AUD3200-4100 for First
(and yes 3-continent fares are still published, though they are no longer possible, since LATAM left Oneworld)

I guess with the loss of Comair during COVID makes that even less sexy since JNB would be the only option in Africa.

That made possible itineraries that included SYD/AKL-SCL, GRU-JNB and JNB-SYD
Once LATAM left the alliance such itineraries were no longer possible (though I'm not sure if LATAM was still flying GRU-JNB by that time)
Oneworld now has very poor coverage of Sth America (used to be very good coverage) and of Africa (was always quite poor coverage).

Southern hemisphere 3-continent fares were first published when former Oneworld member LATAM commenced flying GRU-JNB

Africa though wasn't awful before Comair died, at least southern Africa. That was a true shame that ZA gov let them go without any attempt to bail them yet kept SA afloat while new funding could be found. RwandAir (WB) will help but they still currently have a limited network and KGL isn't an ideal hub if going from one place in Southern Africa to another. I know Rwanda is a super ambitious country and anticipate the airline will grow quickly as well, but for OW we need something sooner than later.
