I was annoyed after going through HKG a couple of weeks ago to find out that the Pier had opened back up, I'm in the camp which greatly preferred the old Pier to the Wing and who thinks that the Wing is by far the most overrated lounge in the world. Anyway, my top 5

QF SYD F - For me the perfect lounge
CX Pier F - OK, I haven't been since renovated but I used to love it pre renovation so I'm confident it will make it straight back to #2. Looking forward to trying it out in a couple of months
JL NRT F - This was mainly here from my smoking days as it has the best smoking area in any lounge in the world. But I've stopped now so it probably should drop down the list. I do like the showers though.
QF MEL F - it's here for the food but just doesn't feel special in the way SYD does
CX The Bridge - In the battle of the J's (aka CX vs QF HKG vs QF SIN) I'm giving it to the Bridge by a whisker. Is it just me or do 75% of the people entering the bridge go right? It's much quieter on the left

The lounges that should have made the list, but didn't

CX The Wing F - To be fair this is my go to shower in HKG but apart from that I just don't get the hype. Food is average at best, noisy, overcrowded, poor seating, no view, it's just reeks of fake luxury. For me it would just squeak into the top 5 lounges in HKG and thats probably only because I don't fly star alliance.

QR DOH Al Mourjan - this lounge kinda annoyed me. Football pitch of open seating and hide things like showers through secret passages and unmarked doors. I also generally don't like middle eastern style of service which I find quite condescending (except for Qatar J on a 787 which has just gone to my favourite one world J service)

EK DUB F - actually, it would make the list, but it's not one world :)

AY HEL - Honestly I don't get the love, it's a pretty standard J level lounge which doesn't come close to matching some of the new 'super J' lounges in SE Asia never mind a decent F lounge

BA LHR T5 F - Loses it's spot mainly for the service and thats from someone who's idea of perfect service in a lounge is to leave me alone and I'll get my own food, drinks etc.

MH KUL F - Malaysia, a foodie destination and an F lounge with a la carte dining and the most boring menu in the world. Club Sandwich? Pasta Alfredo? Come on Malaysia, you are so much better than that.

I'm with you on the AY HEL lounge. I keep wondering if there's another lounge that I'm missing - I seem to recall the only benefit to being OWE was a single complimentary glass of champagne.

But I will give the MH lounge extra points for the mini freezer full of Haagen Dazs.

I quite like the IB lounge in MAD as well - granted I visited it early on in my lounge visiting history so I was probably more easily impressed back then but recall decent food food and drinks. The half bottles of cava were quite convenient! - I'd rate it right up there for J lounges (and much prefer it to HEL).

From that I'd say you are speaking about the "old" non-Schengen AY+ lounge. There is newish Premium Lounge beside it, which is substantially better, and also accessible to OWEs and OWSs. In this thread people are talking about Premium Lounge. Which IMO is not among the best Oneworld lounges...

Ahh, thanks for the info! I was last there in summer of 2013 so it does look like there is a new lounge. I'll have to make it back to check it out.

My fave is Qatar Airways in Doha, but not the one they have right now in the terminal shared with all travelers; I'm referring to the special premium terminal reserved exclusively for J and F. I traveled through there in January 2013 and much to my disappointment, it was closed in October 2014 when I passed through in Qatar J class again. I only booked Qatar because of that terminal. Tremendous let down; the current lounge is nothing like the F/J lounge in that designated terminal. No idea when (or even if) that special terminal will open up again.

You're not alone though I never experienced the PT it sounded delightful.

I was in there a few times, I would challenge anyone claiming it was any better than the current Al-Mourjan lounge.

Really?? I've seen plenty of negative reports about Al-Mourjan and its interaction with the main terminal. Call it nostalgia maybe?

But Al-Mourjan was hugely underwhelming and didn't do the simple things well at all.

There's no Qantas First lounge in SIN.

As for the TBIT First lounge, its 'cafeteria personality' would have me put it somewhere around the middle of your list ... don't expect anything SYD (or MEL for that matter) like.

Fair enough.. BUT they claim "same" level of dining, so good enough for me ;)

The Qantas Singapore Lounge, offers a new standard of luxury for our customers travelling through Singapore. The lounge reflects the heart of Singapore, a vibrant and exciting space that celebrates the local scene. You can enjoy the best of the service currently offered by Sofitel in our flagship First lounges in Sydney and Melbourne, and an enhanced dining experience featuring Neil Perry's Spice Temple inspired dishes and signature cocktails.

Hah!

While they do have two 'dishes' of the day which are delivered to the table to order, don't expect much more than that, and certainly it can't be compared with the MEL/SYD First lounges.

Champagne? Forget ... enjoy the sparkling wine ...

I would have rated QF F SYD as unbeatable, but now I have been to CX's The Pier F in HKG. Didn't spend long enough there to be sure, but if it doesn't beat QF F SYD then it has to be number 2.
