6) LHR BA F (T5)
If only visits before midday were considered I'd rate this lounge higher due to its amazing (in my opinion) breakfast. Decent drinks selection (^ for bitter lemon as a mixer) and the 'outside' terrace is a nice place to be. Showers are absolutely horrid and seating can be difficult to find during the day. |
I actually like the LHR CCR a lot, though I realize I'm in the minority in that one. In the US, the JFK FL for the views and the fact that I think the food is actually halfway decent.

7. British Airways F Lounge at Heathrow (not CCR)
Al-Mourjan at DOH is pretty special, can't wait for Al-Safwa. QR's offering at LHR is excellent too, although I guess not strictly speaking a oneworld lounge. If you're at LHR T4 at sunset, view from the Malaysia Air lounges is spectacular, but the food, drink, and decor leave a lot to be desired. Looking forward to trying new CX lounge at BKK |
My view, in order..
1. Cathay the Wing HKG first 2. BA CCR Heathrow 3. Qatar Al Mourjan business class lounge Doha 4. Many others PS I cannot evaluate QF and AY because I did not stay |
For dining, QF MEL First and QF SYD First. For facilities like relaxation rooms and sleeping, QR First in Doh. For generally being quiet, good facilities and food, BA First in T3.

Is it correct to call BA's CCR and QR's lounges at LHR and DOH "oneworld lounges"? I believe they have different entry requirements (have to be flying in premium cabin on those carriers, status not relevant) which may exclude them from this discussion.

Looks like the new Pier First Class lounge at HKG should be included among the best ones. Good job CX!

1. JL F Sakura NRT
2. BA CCR LHR 3. CX F Wing HKG 4. AA FL JFK The absolute worst BA NBO |
As an F pax on CX 881 LAX-HKG will I have access to the Quantas F lounge at LAX?
My husband and I are travelling together but he is in J due to no more F award seats for our flight. Will I as the F pax be able to bring him into the Quantas F lounge with me while we wait for our CX fight? Or will we both have to use the J OneWorld lounge? |

These are the rules: oneworld lounge access for First Class or Business Class customers Indulge yourself before departure in a wider range of airport lounges when you fly First Class or Business Class with any oneworld member airline. Customers flying First or Business Class have access to the equivalent class of lounge regardless of their frequent flyer status. First Class passengers may use a Business Class or frequent flyer lounge if a First Class lounge is not available. First Class passengers may invite one guest to join them in the lounge. The guest must also be travelling on a flight operated and marketed by a oneworld airline. |
Was in the The Pier 1st class lounge 2 days ago and the renovation looks good. Was with 2 other colleagues and we agreed that we now like the The Pier better than the Wing. The 2 reasons to choose the Wing over the Pier are:
1) Cabanas 2) The Noodle Bar plus the distance if your flight is leaving down near the Wing (which many US flights do). Reasons for The Pier (and I had not been in the Pier recently so some of this may have been the way it was): 1) It is quieter and more "stately" than the Wing. It was nice and relaxing - not crowded. 2) The restaurant is very nice and the food was good. Better than the 1st class mixed buffet / restaurant in the Wing (we had breakfast - will try lunch menu on way back) 3) Proper bar with bartender making nice cocktails / mocktails 4) The pantry had nice pastries, fruit, drinks 5) The showers are better than the Wing, slightly bigger and the layout is better. I was not cramped unpacking my suitcase like in the Wing sometimes. The signage says it opens at 6AM, but it opens at 5:30AM and we were the 1st ones in there...stayed for about 4 hours. Cheers. |

My fave is Qatar Airways in Doha, but not the one they have right now in the terminal shared with all travelers; I'm referring to the special premium terminal reserved exclusively for J and F. I traveled through there in January 2013 and much to my disappointment, it was closed in October 2014 when I passed through in Qatar J class again. I only booked Qatar because of that terminal. Tremendous let down; the current lounge is nothing like the F/J lounge in that designated terminal. No idea when (or even if) that special terminal will open up again.
