Hello Flyertalkers, I am new to the OneWorld forum and just starting to do research on a trip to Australia and Fiji in 2016. My question is a fairly general one:-

Can anyone tell me whether it might be worth getting a Circle Pacific ticket as part/all of the trip? We will be flying from LHR to Oz and visiting the pacific and then returning to LHR via Oz.

I am still looking to see whether there are any tools or links for this on the forum, but we would be travelling BA in J from LHR, with a stop in SIN and want to visit SYD/BRIS/NAN (in no particular order) returning with another stop in either HKG or Bangkok. A stop in PER would be nice but not essential.

If anyone thinks that a Circle Pacific fare might save some money I will start looking into it -or asking an agent to do so - but at this stage I have no idea if it is likely to be worthwhile for us.

You can't use a circle pacific and depart from LHR. You can read more about circle pacific tickets here:

If you fly to Asia on a separate ticket then you could use a circle asia and southwest pacific ticket to visit various destinations.

You could use a DONE4 to depart from LHR or from another cheaper starting point.

Also note that Fiji is not available using any Oneworld airline, and wouldn't be an eligible stop on either a Oneworld Explorer or any of the "Circle" products. It IS available using the Oneworld Global Explorer, a mileage-based product, with which you can use Air Fiji flights.

Circle Pacific fares are mileage based and require travel in/through/from South West Pacific, Asia and North America (and South America on the highest tier). You can't start them in Europe.
Circle Asia and Southwest Pacific won't get you to Fiji.

In terms of price, you're probably going to be best off booking a LHR-SYD return ticket on BA with stopovers in SIN (outbound) and HKG (return). Most fares should allow this.

Then book a SYD-NAN-BNE (or vice-versa) ticket on Fiji Airways (you could buy it as the Qantas codeshare, but directly from FJ will probably be cheaper). Finally book a one-way SYD-BNE (or vice-versa).

Without knowing dates or other details, that's generically the first thing to check price-wise.

Thanks for the input everyone, you've saved me wasted time researching the circle ticket further. I'm going to check out your suggestions and the links you have supplied instead. jridge - I wouldn't have thought of booking SYD-NAN-BNE, it sounds a good idea.

It might also be worth noting that BA codeshares with Cathay Pacific and Qantas on the HKG-BNE route. You could fly LHR-SIN-SYD / BNE-HKG-LHR with BNE-HKG on QF or CX (but BA flight number and all on a single BA-issued ticket). If you coupled this with SYD-NAN-BNE, this would cut a connection in Sydney. Just something you may wish to check.
