two separate tickets, check to destination?
I have a flight from KUL-SIN on one ticket (MH), followed by a 12 hour layover in SIN, then a flight from SIN-HKG-LAX (CX) on a separate ticket. Will they be able to check my bags all the way to the destination?

The bigger issue here is likely the length of your layover, not the fact you are on separate tickets. is the layover overnight?
