Oneworld Sapphire = Preferred seating on AA/US?

Hi folks,

Just about to book travel through the States and Canada, and reading that Sapphire status gives free access to Preferred seats on AA/US flights. I'm a CX Gold, but rarely travel in the US.

How do I identify myself to AA/US when booking, to access these seats?

I assume this does not extend to AA-ticketed flights operated by Westjet?

Thanks!

The AA and US systems should automatically recognize the status when you put in your ff number during the booking process (it is the case for me QF plat OW Emerald).

The preferred seats should be open when you get to the select seats page.

If you book us through a third party site, you will most likely have to call to add your ffn. Once added, you can select most seats for free.

I just booked travel to LHR using Avios. I paid for seat selection, expensive. Flight is in September. But now that I read this thread I have a question. I am AA Platinum. On AA flights I get seat selection at no cost. But not on BA. Any thought on why this is so?

BA have different policies than AA - I know that seems a trite answer but it is what it is.

I believe you need to be *O Emerald to get complimentary seat pre-selection with BA.
