Hi All,

Looking to do a Sept DGLOB34 to try and visit PPT & IPC and which can't be done with the regular DONE.

In the past have booked DONE's and AONE's through the good AA RTW desk but won't be using AA on this trip.

Any advice on which airline out of BA/QF/JL/AY/LAN would be good to try and book the ticket with? Or am I better in trying to find an agent (I don't think there are any competent ones here in TLV apart from AA)?

I will pick out all the flights / dates / times through EF just want a competent enough airline that will know what I am talking about and book it.

Where are you starting/routing etc.

Even when not flying AA, you can still contact them about the RTW.

Why not contact Tal Aviation? Besides being AA's GSA their website says they represent a couple other OW airlines.

I will be starting in TLV.

On my last encounter with the AA RTW desk they told me that they would ticket only if I had AA sectors. As I don't have any for this trip wasn't sure they would cooperate.

With regards to Tal Aviation I got the impression when picking up my last AONE3 (wrongly or rightly) that it is better to book through the airline and only pay and pick-up from them.

Also concerned it is the more 'rare' DGLOB34 than the xONEx

I think I will try BA by phone this time as I plan on crediting my BA FF card and have two flights with them.

You could also email them.

That's not a restriction on the ticket, that's AA wanting to retain money (even though they'd be earning interest on the cash while it sits in their accounts before they pay out to each airline at departure).

I had the same issue with CX a few years ago where they refused to even quote a trip because QF was the planned first sector. They only did it when I pushed back.

Hopefully this info will help others:

Rang BA (UK) and struck out with first agent but rang again and got a great second agent. He knew all about the xONEx and GLOB differences - codeshare, mileage etc.

Basically within 10 minutes flights were reserved and on the system (I had all the flights info to hand via EF).

Taxes were calculated within one hour and got a call back to be advised that if I pay in Sterling the ticket will be more expensive as base rate will be UK but if I pay in $$ than base rate will be that of Israel. I knew that info beforehand but nice to hear it from a proactive and helpful agent.

He even listed all the taxes(fees) for me.

Taxes(fees) were high (HELLO BA) at $1,350. My last AONE3 taxes(fees) were $1,266

I was just happily surprised how quick it all happened and on a Sunday.

For those interested my route is as follows (not a mileage run).

Fast reservation indeed, but also very handy for agent when you are able to advise him the flights etc.

Hi All,

Was picking seats for this upcoming trip which means going into each airline website separately and choosing seats. Obviously LAN is a hopeless cause...Wish you could do it all at a one stop shop online.

I booked the ticket with BA and on that website highlighted in red were a few time changes which were minor. However, on the Finnair website I had to click a button acknowledging the changes which in turn de-highlighted the red changes on the BA website as if Finnair was the booking airline.

This got me to think is the first airline of a RTW the ticketing or controlling airline even if the ticket is booked through another airline? Does it matter when trying to reticket/change dates?

Also on the Finnair site I have two different e-ticket numbers showing where as Mrs J only has one and on every other airline website we are only showing one consistent e-ticket number each?

Will two e-ticket numbers cause a delay when checking in to my first flight with Finnair?
