upgrading Global Explorer AGLOB34 to AONE5

I have looked at the Rule Sheet for Global Explorer Fares and just wanted to check that my understanding of the rule below is correct ...

If I've booked an AGLOB34 and have flown several segments am I correct in thinking that I can upgrade it to a AONE5 as long as the new routing is valid from the original AGLOB34 ticketing point of origin?

And presumably the new AONE5 fare would be the current fare ie not the fare that was available at the original time of ticketing of the AGLOB34 ...?

I hope that makes sense to some of the experts out there !!

Thanks in advance for any help

Here's the rule

At any time the Global Explorer fare may be used as credit towards payment of any higher fare from
the point of origin provided the conditions of the higher fare have been met. No fee will apply.
Where such credit is towards another Explorer fare, retroactive use will be permitted. Reissued
tickets must be endorsed --NON REF/ XXX-- (XXX equals Global Explorer fare basis code) and the
original Non-Refundable amount remains Non-Refundable. If the upgraded ticket is subsequently
cancelled the original fee will apply

The thing here is that you have already started travel on your AGLOB34 fare and that any remaining value will be based on a deducting what a normal oneway fare is which , trust me, won't be very much left.

An AGLOB34 fare is different from an AONE5 fare. So effectively it shouldn't be a one to one exchange as they both have different fare rules. You should refer to the original issuing airline and ask them. They ultimately have the final say if your ticket can be upgraded to AONE5.

Hi
Thanks for that
I've not yet booked or started the planned trip
and will call the AA RTW ticketing desk to see what they have to say ... I appreciate what you're saying if the deal is crediting what is left after deducting the one way fares for what has already been travelled ...
I am not sure what the phrase means in the Rules -
Where such credit is towards another Explorer fare, retroactive use will be permitted..
I will see if I can get clarification and presumably try and get some sort of written confirmation if it is upgradeable ?

Others have upgraded circle trips to oneworld explorers, so as provided in the rules it should be possible. The problem will be if you have flown carriers that can be used in a globex but which cannot be used in a oneworld explorer, then I'm not so sure how you can turn it into a oneworld explorer.
