Stuck! NBO-JNB

I'm sorry if this is the wrong place to post. I've read over a number of threads and found some really useful information. However, a few in the past seem to have had the same issue i'm stuck on.

If I am using a One World RTW is it possible to fly between NBO-JNB on any of the current airline partners. I don't believe it is but stand to be corrected.

Would one have to do surface travel here or buy a separate airline ticket between the two hubs?

Does Qatar joining One World change the situation at all.

Thanks in advance

Unfortunately, no, it's not possible, and QR's entry won't change anything. Intra-Africa is Oneworld's Achilles heel.

No.

Yes.

Not unless somehow QR provides a flight between NBO and JNB.

UL (scheduled to join someday) may provide service between Mahe and NBO in the future. See:
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/onewo...eychelles.html

Kenya is in the list of countries allowing an extra entry into Europe:
(e) Only one intercontinental departure and one intercontinental arrival permitted in each continent except as follows:
1. Two permitted in North America when one is a transfer without stopover.
2. Two permitted in Asia when one is a transfer without stopover or on direct single plane service between the Southwest Pacific and Europe.
Page 3 of 10 Rule 3015
3. For travel to/from or via Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya and Uganda two permitted in Europe when one is a transfer without stopover between Ghana/Nigeria/Kenya/Uganda and another continent.

As long as it enables an additional entry/transit via Europe to truly maximise a *ONEx; its great :P
