Circle Asia Planning help
I’m planning out a DAS13 for later this year. Limit of 8 sectors and 13,000 miles touching each of three regions (North East Asia [Taiwan, China, Japan and S. Korea], South East Asia [Hong Kong, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines, Vietnam and Cambodia], South West Pacific [Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea]).
For the last two years, I’ve done CBR-SYD-NRT-ITM-NRT-ICN-HKG-SIN-MEL at 12,966 miles with a connecting DONE3 out of either NRT or ICN.
This year, with MH having joined OW and the noises the DPRK have been making lately, I’d like to go somewhere else (TPE, BKK, other?) and avoid ICN. Though I also want to avoid an MH service into/out of Australia (because of the QF earn on them). I’m planning to connect to a DONE3 in NRT.
So far, I’m not having much luck finding a routing that gets me close to the magic 13,000 miles (everything thus far has gone over or been around 12,000).
I’d like to start with CBR-xSYD-NRT and end with SIN-MEL.
Any suggestions?

How about something like this (mileage from the Great Circle Mapper; haven't checked the TPM on KVS but it should be close):
CBR-SYD-NRT-TPE-HKG-BKI-KUL-SIN-MEL (12925 mi)?
You can also replace TPE by OKA (12976 mi), PVG (12965 mi), etc.
CBR-SYD-NRT-HKG-BKK-KUL-PEN-SIN-MEL (12956 mi)?
CBR-SYD-NRT-TPE-HKG-BKI-KUL-SIN-MEL (12925 mi)?
You can also replace TPE by OKA (12976 mi), PVG (12965 mi), etc.
CBR-SYD-NRT-HKG-BKK-KUL-PEN-SIN-MEL (12956 mi)?

Starting in SYD would free up miles which could get you to OKA. You'd just need the separate flight or bus CBR-SYD and extra connect time to protect in SYD to cover any delays. If you are on the QF flight SYd-NRT, you'd have all day to travel up from CBR.

Not if it is a day I'm at work. Only way I can get to SYD in time to get on QF21 is on QF806 or QF1494, and even then I'd have to get out of work early. (asking for one less day off can make the difference in the leave getting approved)
