Cph - hel - jfk - mia

Hello!

I need a little help/advice.

Going to Florida in March 2013. Found a REALLY good deal on vayama.com via HEL and JFK with Finnair/AA.

Now my initial worry is the change time in JFK of 1 hour and 34 minutes.

Okay, so AA and Finnair shares the same terminal 8, although not same concourse.

Question is; Will I be able to clear customs, baggage, re-check in, in 1 hour and 34 minutes?

Regards,
Kim

The problem is going to be customs. If you are traveling on a non-US passport you are unlikely to make it through customs in time. However, there should be no need to recheck-in as you can check your bags through and then simply drop them off as you come out of customs. Perhaps you could try to find one of the customs agents or an AA agent and explain the situation.

1 hr and 34 min is rather short since there are a number of international flights that arrive at the same time AY flight arrives from HEL. Have you considered one-stop connection to MIA via KEF on FI?

Actually, what passport you hold has nothing to do with how long it takes you to get through Customs except to the extent that non-US people may have a longer queue at pass control, which might mean it takes longer to get to the baggage hall and thence to Customs.

I agree that this would be a very tight connection.

cheers,

Henry

You are within MCT. However, I have never done a Int'l-to-Dom transfer at JFK T8.

That is cutting it very tight, but if they (well, AA) sell you the ticket, and you are late, they will rebook you. Happened to me last summer on HEL-JFK-MIA. Actually, there was an AA employee waiting at the arrival gate with new boarding passes for a number of passengers etc.

Yeah the price WAS $699 on vayama.com - Though not anymore.

Besides, booked CPH - LHR - IAH - MIA on the new Dreamliner from LHR - IAH. So I am very thrilled about that! That cost be roughly $750 which isn't a bad price either.

Glad it worked out for you.

Finnair just uses one of the gates next to ordinary AA flights. Last night they used Gate 4 while I was waiting for JFK-SEA at Gate 7.

Closing thread as it's not really about Oneworld.
