help with reissuing a oneworld rwt

I am in the process of reissuing a oneworld rwt that can end anywhere in the middle east (such as Doha, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Muscat, etc.). Roughly, my routing would be Rio de Janeiro-Europe-Middle East in four or less segments. Travel via North America would be permitted with no stop-over. I would like to wind up somewhere that would be a good spot for issuing another rtw (5 continent in D) both in terms of lowest price and ease of issuing through a local travel agent or AA or other oneworld carrier office. I am aware of BAs surcharges, so AA looks like a better choice for issuing carrier.

Asking forgiveness ahead of time for my ignorance, is there any way of finding out current rtw fares other than artificially making experimental bookings with the oneworld tool? I do have a subscription to expertflyer, but I dont know how to find fares.

Any help or suggestions for routing would be much appreciated.

Expertflyer states on their fare information search screen that to do an around the world fare search you input the same city to get rtw fare information.
To perform an Around the World (RTW) fare search, use the same Departing and Arriving airport codes.
You might want to consider Cairo and issuing through the AA GSA Emeco. Information can be found at aa.com and on this forum.

Reissue?
Did you already book a ticket?
Have you started the trip?

The answers seem to be yes, yes, and yes. Looks like he is changing/reissuing an xonex and he needs to get from GIG to somewhere in the middle east in four segments (that he has left).

And then wants to start a new donex from wherever he ends.

In that case, the reissue will cost a lot more then the $125USD fee as it will trigger a refare and the prices across the middle east and Africa have recently gone up.

I already have the ticket and have already used about half of it. The point of origin was Amman. I want to reissue the part that is left, changing routing. On the phone, AA says that the only charge will be USD 125.00. At least according to the AAgent I spoke to, changes in fares that have occurred since I bought the ticket are not relevant. The idea is to get from Rio de Janeiro to the Middle East using four segments. The point of arrival in the Middle East should be a good place for getting a new rtw.

Since travel has already commenced then there should be no fare increase [as long as there is no change in "continents'?].

Any costs should be the USD125 fee, any service fee and additional taxes/levies/charges less any refundable taxes/levies/charges.

The agent is almost right
  • once you have started then price changes are not relevant
  • to re-route, as you want to, will incur the USD125 change fee
  • AA does not charge a service fee (which it is entitled to do and which other airlines do charge)
  • you are entitled to a refund of the taxes and charges for the segments which you will no longer fly, due to the re-routing
  • you are required to pay the taxes and charges for the segments you will now fly, due to the re-routing
  • so you might pay more, or you might get a refund depending on the changes you make

I believe that Jordan is still a good place to start a DONEx, and Egypt is cheaper again, and Yemen is the cheapest.
You can get to Cairo from Spain (MAD and perhaps BCN), LHR or AMM (but you cannot travel through your point of origin). Yemen will only be reachable via AMM so that will not be allowed.

So - to get from GIG to CAI or AMM in 4 or fewer segments:
- GIG-MAD-CAI/AMM
- GIG-xJFK-AMM
- GIG-xJFK/MIA/DFW-MAD/LHR/...-CAI/AMM
- GIG-MAD-DME-AMM
- GIG-MAD-DME-LHR-CAI
etc
(have you had your two allowed European stopovers?)
(you said you can transit Nth America - so I presume you have been there already on your ticket)

In the last week, I've made date/time/carrier changes (ie, free) to my current DONE3 and DAS13. My slow travel agent making some changes went through QF. It took them 3 days to do the actual changes and didn't charge anything.
Made some other changes myself at CX and JL ticket counters in LHR and SIN. No charge there either.

Interesting...
Yet if you phone QF direct, they do charge a service fee
(I have had this experience and I was only making a few date changes on my LONE4)
