help with AONE5 ex JNB
HI there
In the light of the huge hikes in A RTW fares ex Middle East am looking at starting in SA in JNB ....
Whole different ball game by the looks of things
Have tried a few routings on the OW online booking tool and they are all quoting a base fare of 110,000 Rands - rather than the 83.800 I had expected as quoted on ExpertFlyer.
Is this just another of those online tool bugs ....???
And I'm looking at the following as I believe you can travel through Europe twice as long as no stopover on one of them and if you are en route to certain countries
JNBxLHRxMCTxLHR-MEL-WLG-SYD-HKG-JFK-LAX-ORD-MIA-BDA-MIAxLHR-NBO
I think that's a valid AONE5 but maybe I'm missing something
And any thoughts on maxing the mileage further.
My next issue is how to get it ticketed on the correct fare if the online tool won't come up with it - yet again - i've had enough trouble with it ex AMM in the past!
Is the best route the AA RTW desk even though the initial carrier will be BA and get them to quote the ex JNB price and then ticket through Canadian TA?
Thanks for any help !!!

Yes - it is a 5 continent trip (all but Sth America)
According to KVS the base fare should be ZAR83800 for the AONE5
So looks like yet another bug in the on-line tool

- yes the Canada option should work OK
- but you could also use the Sth African travel agent option (search for Mind Pearl in this forum)
- just have either HKG-JFK or MIA-LHR on AA so that AA has an 'over-water' segment and AA will set it up
- and whichever agent you choose will ticket it

I have noticed a bug in the tool that if your start and end points aren't the same then it does mess up the pricing.
For example I was looking at ex DOH finishing up in DXB and the base price was way over the DOH figure. When I changed only the last sector to end in DOH and no other changes the tool priced the routing up correctly.
Doesn't really help the OP a lot as you can't re-route back to South Africa.

I have a feeling that I read that MindPearl were now longer able to ticket RTW ex SA on AA ticket stock ...
but I'll do a search and see what I can find out - thanks

That was based upon a single report. There has been a later report of a purchase from mindpearl. I would call them if you don't get a response to an email. They have always been very responsive in the past. In the past they seemed to prefer that you have the itinerary all set up through the AA rtw desk before they get involved.
