Best strategy for upcoming Qatar flights?

I will be taking a few long flights on Qatar Airlines later this year and early next year. When I booked the flights I had given my MileagePlus number because they were then still codeshare with UA. Now it looks like they’re not going to be part of oneworld before my flights leave so I don’t know that I’ll be able to give my AAdvantage number instead. What would be the best strategy to try to get some points out of these flights? Any options?

Thanks!

I'd assume you'd use whatever FF plan you can that will give you credit on the QR flights at the time you fly. Both UA and QR have stopped crediting each other last month, so for the time being your options appear to be very limited.

QR won't be in Oneworld till mid 2014 ! Therefore Oneworld FFPs won't be recognised till they officially join.

So I think your choices will be limited to crediting them to US Airways or QR's own FFP in the meantime.

If you want to be fully on the safe-side you decide on the FFP you want to use right at check-in. (But I do not expect significant changes during the next say 10 months.)

Until QR have a codeshare agreement with AA, forget about any mile. Even when QR joins ow, they may decide to restrict the number of FF points you can accumulate for other programs, just like CX or QF do.

Depending on what you mean by 'a few' why not just credit them all to QR and then when they join OW you have status ready and waiting.
