Minimum Connection time for CX (T7) toAA(T8) at JFK

Minimum Connection time for CX (T7) toAA(T8) at JFK
I am planning to arrive in JFK T7 off CX888 arriving at 06:00, I will then connect to AA3856 JFK-YYZ leaving T8 at 07:55am.
Does this meet connection time requirements?
Also I will be with bags and a foreign passport, should I therefore take the next JFK-YYZ flight at 11:05am (neccessitating a 5 hour layover)?

Thank you very much for that info. So minimum connection time is 2 hours. If I were to do this, it would be on the same J reward ticket.
Thing is this connection is 1hour 55 minutes, so perhaps it will not be accepted by CX/AA?
