Using One World first time, Please help

. I have been doing some research, please let me know if it's valid.

I am planning

SFO-LAX-MEL(stop 6 nights)-SYD-HKG(Stop 2 nights)-HND(stop 4 nights)-SFO

Total Miles on Global Circle Mapper is 19814 Miles

So it should fall under the One world 15000-20000

So using BA One World Chart, it will be

200K for Business Class (Ridiculous I know vs AA 130k)

100K for Economy

Please help if this would work within the frame work of the One World Redemption.

This is really a question for the BA board. As our moderator to move this thread over there so the friendly experts there can help out.

I am not sure about that. This is about One World, I also have AA Miles so I am deciding either program. It really has nothing to do with BA or AA, just mile requirements.

Using BA miles is discussed in the BA forum as that is where the experts on using BA miles are. Similarly use of AA miles is discussed on the AA board.

If you are considering a oneworld award using AA miles then the following thread is the one you want to look at and ask your questions in:
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/ameri...er-awards.html

The BA two or more partner awards are not usually considered to be that good of a deal (esp. when compared to using AA miles for a oneworld award) but the BA forum regulars would be able to help best if that is the way you decide to go.

If you want to compare AA vs BA you could re word your post

MEL to SYD is cheap to buy so may be a waste on miles/avois

Actually, it's not about Oneworld, it's about the program-specific redemption requirements of two FF schemes run by Oneworld members.

Your route appears to be a valid AA Oneworld redemption route, as well as a valid BA redemption route, but each will have different mileage (and - watch out - surcharge and fee) requirements.

I'd consult the sticky threads and FAQs on the AA and BA boards as you research your options. I'll defer any action on this thread in the interim.

Not too hard to find. Go here:
http://www.britishairways.com/travel...r/public/en_ca
then scroll to the bottom of the page and click on:
Avios prices for two or more oneworld airlines.
You will get this popup:

Okay. Further discussion of BA policies can be entertained on the BA board. Closing this.
