There are already a number of these open at other airports. Are they useful?
I think if I'm making a connection through SYD, I'll be aware of any problems long before I arrive in SYD.
which is designed “to iron out any snags for transfer customers before the customer even becomes aware of the problem”

How? You can't possibly know of any issues related to weather, equipment, or crews while still in the air unless you are told by the crew. Even then, they may not know of certain issues.

The most common cause of connection problems through SYD are due to customs and the bus ride between T1 and T3. Anyone who is experienced with Domestic-International connecting in SYD should be able to determine the likelihood of a problem simply by knowing the boarding time of their connecting flight and the current time vs arrival.
