$369.40 Additional Taxes for Routing Change DONE04 ex-AMM

In case anyone is interested:

My original DONE04 RTW:
(AMM-JFK-MIA-DFW-ANC-MIA)-LAX-HKG-SIN-BKK-NRT-SYD-AKL-ME-SIN-LHR
[ --- already flown --- ]

I just changed to:
...MIA-LAX-AKL-HKG-NRT-BKK-LHR-MCT-LHR-CDG-AMM

In addition to the $125 change fee, there are additional taxes of 369.40. Unclear why they are so much. Something to do with MCT & BKK.

Are you LHR entries transits or stopovers.
If stopovers I suspect its the UK APD

If, MCT-oLHR-xCDG-AMM,
not 20GBP, APD for oLHR-AMM (120GBP?) applied.

The LHR trips are transit; i.e. just a few hours.
I thought the UK taxes weren't added unless you stopped for > 24-hours.
But that certainly makes sense.
£240 = $US 370.83 as of today.
But if you experts think those taxes shouldn't be charged for a transit, I'll call the RTW desk back & ask them to re-evaluate the pricing. That is the first time I've made a change & had such a large taxing differential.

Based on your changes, I'd certainly investigate the APD, but I'd be more suspicious of increased BA (YQ) fuel surcharges being added for the additional BA-metal, e.g. MCT longhaul flights.

The BA Fuel Surcharge for LHR-MCT-LHR in business class is $400.40 . A $369 additional taxes requirement suggests that the other taxes have gone down slightly with the new routing leaving "just" a $369 extra to pay

If you are flying BA from BKK-LHR there is a fuel surcharge there of $248 to pay . If you haven't done so, then change that to a Qantas flight number if available

Great idea. BKK-LHR already is QF. I try to avoid BA whenever possible - they used to be frugal with class-of-service bonuses but I guess that changed this year. And avoid routing through LHR when possible.
