Ticketing ex-AMM

I read CargoHoldFlyer's experience with online booking tool error message with ticketing ex-AMM. I get a valid itinerary for my DONE04, and get all the way through to ticketing, enter CC info & get an error message. But RTW in US can set up same itinerary. I can see no ticket agent in AMM on AA's website. So there is no way to ticket except to try as CargoHoldFlyer did?

Suggestions??? I have also considered repositioning to JNB then originating DONE05 ex-JNB, but it adds considerably to cost (repositioning + extra continent).

I am ending a DONE04 ex-CAI (!!!) in AMM 3/24 & hope to leave AMM 3/26/11.

The oneworld rtw booking site worked perfectly for me with a routing ex-AMM on Sunday March 6th (with the exception of not offering IB segments). It accepted my US issued credit card and our AAdvantage numbers with US addresses without making any problems, although I was physically located in Brasil (as AA could tell from the ip address, if they care). AA immediately sent an e-mail saying:

Booking Confirmation

Thank you for booking a oneworld Explorer ticket.
Your trip is confirmed and your American Airlines confirmation number is ...

This is not a travel document. As noted during the booking process, an electronic ticket will be issued by American Airlines shortly and an itinerary and receipt will be sent to your email address.

As far as I can tell AA did not charge, or even pre-authorize, my credit card on Sunday and the reservation remained on request until Wednesday March 9th, when I decided to call the rtw desk. The agent said he would have to call ticketing because there was a note on the reservation, put me on hold for a short time, and then came back saying that our tickets had been issued. There was no more talk about the note or anything else. The price used was ex-AMM, not ex-US or ex-Brasil. So everything worked, although it took a while.

ajnaro would you mind posting what the taxes and surcharges came to on that itinerary? Thanks
Also did you need to book a positioning flight between GIG and AMM - it seems an expensive option?

The total for taxes and fees is USD 590.17 per ticket, including a USD 150 fuel surcharge. I can't find the exact breakdown.

My last rtw ends in JNB. I used miles to get a oneworld mileage ticket on IB and RJ that allows me to visit several cities in Spain that I've been wanting to see for some time but were always left aside due to stop-over restrictions that don't apply to oneworld tickets. I could also have visited lots of other European cities on this ticket, but it would take too long. I view it as tourism, not positioning.

Thanks for that - total of taxes/fuel surcharges seem reasonable given the routing.

I was hoping that you would be able to tell me of a fantastic fare from Brazil to Amman but not to be. The best I have been able to find on Oneworld in Business Class is $2500 all in - not too bad when I can upgrade the GRU-DFW and ORD-LHR to First with an EVIP.

I am interested in doing a DONE4 ex-AMM, but my wife is concerned about safety for the 1-2 days we would be in Jordan. I must admit the Australian Government's "Smart Traveller" website doesn't paint a particularly nice picture.

I was wondering if anyone had any recent "on the ground" experience ? We'd likely only be flying in (from the US) the turning around the next day (or one after, to allow for delays) and flying back into Europe.

(The ultimate destination is Australia, as we are moving back there from the US sometime after June - I've also considered going ex-JNB, but the positioning flight is a lot more money or points than getting to AMM.)

The break down should be available when the total price is initally displayed (I "print" this to a .pdf).

You might get a breakdown if you can find your Amadeus/LAN booking reference and plug it into here: http://www.lan.com/cgi-bin/recibo_et...bo_eticket.cgi

Yes, the breakdown was displayed at one point, but I 'printed' slightly later.

When I follow your instructions, I get a message from LAN saying: Por favor seleccione el ticket, with a listing of two AA ticket numbers. When I click on either one of them, I get another message: Debe indicar un nmero de ticket vlido. Presumably LAN wants a ticket number beginning with 045, not 001.

Ah... the booking is for two people - in that case the LAN utility won't work (unless you had 045- ticket numbers; which you don't).

You may try calling the ticketing carrier and asking.

I never was able to book online with the booking tool. But through other means, I was able to ticket 2 tickets ex-AMM: DONE03 & DONE04.

Would you mind letting us know your technique? Although the on-line tool work flawlessly for me, it would be interesting to know about other successful methods.

Our experience in Amman is from exactly one year ago, and therefore not current --- and the Australian Government's report indicates either that the situation there has changed radically or that the smartraveller report is unnecessarily alarmist. Last year during our first trip to Jordan we were struck with how controlled and safe everything appeared. We rented a car and drove to Petra for a few days, and felt absolutely secure at all times ---- the driving in Amman was no worse than in my native Boston (in the U.S.). Security was tight at our hotel (the Hyatt), but we considered that a positive.

Jordan is very dependent on tourism, and it would be a great shame if the current political protests seriously harmed this industry. I'm now very interested in reading MiamiPrep's more current experiences, and hopes that he remembers to post them.
