New york -> cairo airline options

Hello
I am a member of the press and I have to fly from NYC to Cairo tonight.
As AA is not flying direct, any suggestions as to what flight/airline i should connect that has less chances to get cancelled due to the unrest?
any tips will be much appreciated

AA has never flown direct
What does your press company Travel Agent suggest?

Royal Jordanian seems to still be flying to Cairo, but not direct from JFK.

I believe Delta may fly a JFK-Cairo nonstop.

Mods: please move thread

If my company was sending me into Cairo right now, a G650 would be a must have...and it would need to stay on the ground waiting to evacuate me.

Prob the best bet is RJ from NYC-AMM-CAI. AMM close proximity and recently increased frequency of flights should allow for quicker exit when needed.

Egyptair may be direct, however keep in mind they are not flying during the curfew hours.

BA offers some good connection opportunities as well.

That being said, DL nonstop and RJ one-stop arrive CAI at 4:25 p.m.+1 and 7:00 p.m.+1 respectively.

Egyptair arrives 12:15 +1 in the afternoon...

You might want to take these variables into consideration.

I also don't know what the schedules are with the current situation in Egypt.

RJ gets you into AMM, a short hop from CAI.

A quick search uisng the OneWorld flight tool seems to show 4 flights per day between CAI and AMM...

LHR-CAI is once a day and I would prefer RJ over BA due to the increase in frequency, plus AMM is a short hop away.

I believe that BA, LH and AF flights are operating normally into CAI. You might have better luck flying into Sharm el-Sheikh or Tel Aviv and travel to Cairo overland.

As of Jan 28, delta suspended service to CAI indefinitely.

It took me a second to realize RJ was Royal Jordanian. I thought you were making a joke. That would be one heckuva ride in an RJ.

There must be cheap one way charter flights. Planes somehow have to get to Cario to help all those people who are trying to leave.
