It should be about time for OW to reduce the gap with *A!

So members of some programs with dirt cheap miles can dry up other program's upgrade awards?

It is a tiny gap.

*A upgrade awards are so useless it is probably used by 1/10 of 1% of *A FFP members. You can only upgrade CDYB fares and cannot waitlist. It is a great marketing tool, however.

Unless you are with M&M which can upgrade from a lot more fares.

Only for 7 carriers (out of 27) closely linked to LH. CDYB fares only for the other 20 *A carriers.

There are only 16 *A carriers in the *A upgrade program

With M&M, SQ, NZ, NH, UA, SK, LX, OS, LO etc. have more booking classes to upgrade from. OZ, AC, CO, CA, JJ, TP, TG and TK require Y and B for an upgrade to Business Class.

But the problem is not really the booking classes, it is the ridiculous amount of miles required for the upgrade with M&M.
