Best FF suggestion please

I have to make some decision for my boss as to which program he should use. He`s obsessed with JAL as he has a JAL credit card and many points with them but i dont think it`s the best program for him.

He`s looking to fly fortnightly from CTS to SYD (via HKG) to CBR in Y probably is class H probably with Cathay and for him flying in Y it is all about miles and anything that makes Y more comfortable. I am thinking MPC is the way but AA might be another good option as he should easily achieve AA Exec Plat so with 100% bonus miles.

I am thinking MPC is the best suggestion but i am open to other people`s thinking on this. It seems for a Y flyer that Cathay is the way but i wonder about the bonus points. Having guaranteed Y seats seems pretty important as well.

If your boss has a JAL credit card, and not a JGC member,
you had better try to be JGC member, not to try AA plat exec.
If you become JGC member, you keep paying JAL credit card annual fee, then you automatically get an oneworld sapphire membership(you need 0 mile for renewal). Even better, you need only 80,000 qualified miles for oneworld emerald status.
With sapphire leve status of JAL, you earn 100% bonus miles for JAL flight, and some kind of upgrade certificates that CX does not offer.

If your boss travels US a lot, AA is an option, but, travels within Japan and some longhauls, JMB is a good option, IMHO.

I thought maybe he could get JGC then defect to Cathay as then he could get Lifetime JGC (in theory till it goes). He`s already said he doesnt like going via NRT to get back to Australia and refuses to fly Qantas so i think Cathay is the way forward.

Cathay H class gets 70% with JAL so do that a couple of return trips should get him on a flying start towards Sapphire.

What`s wrong with AA?

Not at all. AA is a good FFP with earn/burn ratio. But, practical lifetime status of JGC is better choice in some cases.

If he/she travels very few within Japan, and most of longhauls via HKG, CX gold status and its guarateed seat service is a good option.
However, I remind your, he/she need 30,000+60,000 miles to get CX gold for first time.
He/she need 4+ round trips of CTS-HKG-SYD a year to maintain CX gold.
If that is his/her travel pattern, I suggest CX for guarantted seat and some op-up possibility. If he/she need to travel CTS-HKG-SYD during Chinese New Year, he/she had better be a CX gold member.
