[False alarm] Nice Price Drop

It's great to see a price DROP for a change from Oneworld.

These are the new fares ex UK from today (September 1st 2010)

oneworld Explorer -
3 continent Economy GBP 1,179 [Peak: GBP 1,289]
Business GBP 3,869
First GBP 6,529

oneworld Explorer -
4 continent Economy GBP 1,389 [Peak: GBP 1,449]
Business GBP 4,549
First GBP 7,399

oneworld Explorer -
5 continent Economy GBP 1,709 [Peak: GBP 1,829]
Business GBP 5,169
First GBP 8,449

oneworld Explorer -
6 continent Economy GBP 1,929 [Peak: GBP 2,049]
Business GBP 5,599
First GBP 8,849

Notable price reductions are the Economy 4 continent fare which has cone down to 1389 from over 2000.
Also the 4 continent business class fare has dropped by over 1000.

This is great to see, especially as I've just cone off the phone with Qantas booking a DONE5 ticket departing Saturday. If i'd booked it yesterday, it would have cost me over 1000 more!

xCIRxx pricing ex-U.S. - did I miss the price change?

Times were when a DCIR26 ex-U.S. was pretty reasonable - we did at least a couple of them a couple of years ago, when (IIRC) they were priced at $5,300 and then $5,500. They then jacked the price way up to $9,300 (when a DONE4 was $9,100), so I've never looked at them again.

Planning some travel, I just went to look at xCIRxx pricing on the off-chance that there might be a decent price from somewhere on the circuit that would work for me. A DCIR26 ex-U.S. is now $6,200 (and a DCIR22 is $5,300). Prices were updated September 1, 2010 according to the website.

Question - did I -
(a) Dream that the price went up to $9,300 a couple of years ago and it never really did and I just imagined it all.
(b) This is old news and I've obviously not being paying attention and missed the thread where this price change was discussed (quite possible!)
(c) They've just cut the price back to something closer to what it used to be or
(d) Somebody goofed and they've loaded an incorrect price?

To answer my own post, I suspect the answer is (d). EF says a DCIR26 is $11,200 and a DCIR 22 is $9,300 ex-U.S.

Great news^
but I thought we'd seen the last of peak/off peak prices
and there is nothing in the rules about the dates of application

Browsing the oneworld web site, it seems there are new fares for all products from 1-Sep-2010

I had begun to think an error had been made, and old fares had been loaded, but since you have managed to make a booking at the new fare, it would seem they are kosher

Yikes!

I guess the answer is (b) and (c). I'm not sure where the other thread was when I created this one - must have been staring me in the face but I obviously couldn't see it in my haste ...

I hope so - the online tool just tried to charge me the old price for a DONE4 ex-LHR - will try again tomorrow and see what it comes up with.

Is it a price drop or have they just uploaded an old price list? They did get rid of peak pricing a while ago...

Yes, prices dropped significantly today. EF does not yet reflect the price reductions.

The answer may be (d). I am on the phone with AA RTW Desk and they do not reflect the pricing displayed on the OW site. She thinks the OW info is a mistake (Somebody goofed and they've loaded the old prices).

FWIW, I called the AA RTW desk and their prices do not match those on the OW site, nor does the pricing provided through EF. I am inclined to think that the pricing on the OW site is probably a mistake, despite me personally hoping it is not.

BTW, 7,993,300 KRW is the exact amount that I paid for my AONE3 on April 10 2009 (prices increased dramatically shortly thereafter); so it is different than the currently posted price on the OW site 8,881,400 KRW. This is actually a good sign, unless the difference merely has to due with currency fluctuation.

Correct prices are now displayed at oneworld.com. We got all excited over a mistake unfortunately.

Prices are back to their correct (nose bleed) levels.
