Obtaining Seat Allocation on Qantas

I recently booked a flight with American Airlines at AA.com. To Brisbane, Australia. The flights to and from Australia, via LAX are on Qantas. I have finally managed to login on AA with my code, since it wouldn't let me logon for a week due to it being a multi-airline journey. The seats are unassigned on both of my Qantas flights. I have contacted Qantas and they won't help me since it's an American Airlines reservation. I was wondering how I go about, if possible, to obtain seat allocation. So, I can hopefully obtain a decent seat. Or even just A seat, since it worries me that I don't have one. Thanks!
