Availability on LA 800 Monday 23rd August
Hi
I'm on a LONE4. I'm booked to fly on QF321 on Monday 23rd August which is actually LA800. I want to get american airlines miles for this flight. I've tried to get finnair (the ticketing airline) to do this but they say there is no availability. This has happened before but I found out there was availability. Does anybody know if there are any L seats available for LAN on this flight?
Thanks in advance
Bevan

According to KVS you are out of luck
- on LA800 - no L availability
- on QF321 - LA availability
from both SYD and AKL (you didn't say where you are flying from)
If you are flying from AKL to SCL
then LA does have availability in booking class V, which is lower than L - so perhaps ask Finnair to request a seat be released into L
I presume you know you still get 50% miles on AA from flying QF in booking class L?
FWIW, whenever I've looked at L availability on the LAN flight - it is always zero; makes me think LAN doesn't release any seats, ever.

FYI - V class on LAN does earn 100% Miles and EQP to AAdvantage see this
Not that it will be of any use to you for Monday - you cannot 'downgrade' from L to V - the ticket rules do not allow that
But LAN can choose to release you a seat in L - if you request it
Since LAN has seats available in a lower booking class it may choose to do that and presumably get more revenue that it will otherwise get from QF

I've only had this done the one time - and it was done by the agent on the AA RTW desk; I was making a heap of changes to my LONE4, he put in the request to BA (electronically) and continued with my other changes; before he had finished he received the response from BA granting the seats.
Are you flying AKL-SCL or SYD-SCL?
LAN has V class seats AKL-SCL but only the higher M class seats SYD-SCL (M is higher than L)
I would ring the local LAN office and ask them
