3 Continent Explorer Help

Hi Guys,

I keep being quoted the 4 continent price on the online booking engine, despite only going to Europe, South America, and Australasia. Can anyone point out where I'm going wrong here?

LHR-MAD-LIM-SCL-IPC-SCL-AKL-SYD-LHR

Many Thanks,

John

Flying from Europe to South West pacific counts as touching Asia, thus to go from Europe to SWP a four continent *ONE is required.

From the rules:
(j) Travel between Australia and Europe on a single flight number is considered travelling SW Pacific-Asia-Europe through three continents.

Thanks; that seems fairly ridiculous to me. Is there any point selling a 3 continent ticket then? Is there an amendment I could make to get around it?

How about going from Sydney to London via Egypt or Morrocco? As they are counted as Europe?

It is not possible to have an xONE3 if travel goes through the southern hemisphere.

Yes , just not for the intinerary you want to do , but there are plenty of itineraries which do fit 3 continent . A routing which only takes in Europe , Asia , North America for example .

Yes , but you won't like it - you could drop both South America and Australia and replace them with North America and Asia ... but then you would not get where you want to go .

A few weeks ago, someone reported that
the Online Booking System permits xONE3 routing of
(something like that, I don't remember an exact routing) ORD-DEL-HKG-SYD-LAX.
The rule only says,
For travel ex North America/Asia - when this service is utlised a minimum of 3 continents fare must be charged.

LHR-SYD case is explicitly described as 3 continents routing as SWP-ASIA-Europe. But DEL-ORD is not described as 3 continents routing.

That was me - see this thread

However, it is of no use to wicket since:
- the routing has to include Asia and Nth America (for the ORD-DEL flight)
- the routing cannot include either Europe or Africa
- if the routing includes both Sth West Pacific and Sth America then it will be a four-continent fare

Why? Great new terminal and the place rocks for Qantas SC earnings. Oh, and the city is great as well.

I was referring to the "old" terminal and the procedure for getting into it - I have not had the pleasure of using the new terminal - but will happily try it.. I'd also be happy to experience the city in any season apart from the middle of a hot, dusty and polluted summer.

IIRC correctly, 3 continent fares are only possible from North America, Asia, Europe with a routing involving these three continents.

If you include South America, Africa or SWP you need at least 4 continents.

Asia-Africa-North America is not possible because there's no direct flight between Africa and NA (you have to include Europe somewhere). South America-Africa-SWP is not possible because there's no direct flight SA-Africa and Africa-SWP. Europe-South America-Asia is not possible because there's no direct flight SA-Asia (JL used to fly GRU-NRT but via JFK). And so on.

OW does not even sell 3-continent fares from the southern hemisphere because you cannot construct a valid 3-continent itinerary from there.

There is a Africa-SWP flight. SYD-JNB on QF. Doesn't help for a southern xONE3 though, at least not until someone adds a South Atlantic flight.

If only QF would add another sector to either SYD-EZE or SYD-JNB linking EZE-JNB. Maybe they could also extend QF11/12 to SYD-LAX-LHR. Go back to being a round world airline like NZ.

Agreed, but just barely. SIN is less than 100 miles north of the equator.
