DONE4 Itin Check Please

Hi There,

Just a quick check that this is a valid DONE4 before I start booking it:

JNB-LHR-xMAD-xMIA-DFW-YYZ-xORD-YVR-xJFK-xLAX-SYD-PER,SYD-ZQN-SYD-xJNB-CPT

Also I want this ticketed on AA stock so can I book using the oneworld online tool (never used it before) or do I have to do it by calling the AA RTW desk?

As always appreciate the help.

You have a number of problems:
  • no OW service YVR-ORD
  • YYZ-xORD-YVR: IIRC you cannot travel Canadian Port- Transit US Port - Canadian Port - something about US carriers carrying passengers between Canadian ports
  • YVR-JFK and JFK-LAX are two transcontinental flights - you're only allowed one (you could instead fly JFK-SYD on QF108)
  • SYD-xJNB-CPT - you cannot travel via the point of origin (JNB); you can instead start from from CPT, then xJNB-CPT at the end is fine
  • Using the online tool - the ticketing carrier will be the first carrier - i.e. BA
If you were connecting in London to an AA flight, then you could maybe ticket with them by selecting their codeshare on the JNB-LHR BA flight - but IIRC there are issues with the online tool when you try to select a codeshare flight as the first flight
  • you could ticket with AA via the RTW desk. Assuming you want to pay the ex Sth Africa price for your DONE4, you'll then have to purchase your ticket in Sth Africa. IIRC Mindpearl is the AA agent there- do a search in this forum

Thanks Panda.

YVR-ORD is a new AA service, they added another YVR-US service too if I remember. Could substitute for DFW for more miles anyway I guess. I have done the Canada-US-Canada transit thing before. I think if I remember right I booked with a stopover and then just changed the flight times at a later date.

Good tip on JKF-SYD - same flight number I assume despite the stop in LAX (I assume this then only counts as one segment)? Complete oversight from me on the two transcons.

Originating CPT is not going to work as I only have 18hrs there and hoping to see a world cup game in the evening so will have to give up the CPT leg.

Appreciate the tip on best way to ticket, def want the ex RSA price.

Note the YVR-ORD service has a very limited seasonal run this year - something like June 10 - August 20th or so - be sure to check. YVR-DFW is year round, of course.

You do have a couple of segments to play with. If you're looking at AA miles, and can afford an extra few hours (overnight most likely) look at booking the JNB-LHR segment using the AY code, i.e. make the trip JNB-xLHR-HEL-LHR-MAD... That way you get full AA Plat/EXP bonus on the long JNB-LHR segment. Or, of course, you could go JNB-MAD-LHR-xMAD...

(Assuming MAD is to avoid UK APD?)

Mindpearl is in CPT.
