RTW enquiry

About to book a DONE4 for travel in the first 3 weeks of april. Seems to me that given the cost of the positioning flight, AKL might be the best starting point. Ticketed on the oneworld planner through AA it comes to approx AUD$10400 including taxes.

Is there anywhere else I should be starting from - given that I live in Sydney and need to consider a positioning flight.

Itinerary AKL-LAX-CHI-DFW-LAS-LHR-TLV-BUD-LHR-SIN-BKK-SYD-CNS-MEL- AKL.

many thanks

I think for your route that's probably about as good as you're going to be able to manage in the current fare environment. If you have the time/money/miles to get to Sri Lanka you could look at a DONE3 ex-CMB, but of course the bits in Oz would be on your own.

Remember 2 stopovers in the continent of origin.

Given how much the AUD/NZD exchange rate has moved lately, ex-NZ premium fares are great value for Australians. Ignoring any future differential price increases, it may well continue to improve over the next six months.

Thanks KF - need your help.

An update and an appeal for help. When LAN is used the booking tool falls over and will not let me pay. Rang AA to get them to price - no problem but I have to pay in NZ. I like the idea of arranging through AA - they are really knowledgeable and easy to deal with.

Any idea of a good TA who can do it in NZ and not charge a lot for a commission?

(Edited to add cannot book with AA using the online booking tool as the itinerary now goes in a westerly direction)

Thanks KF - will call on Monday. I guess not surprising that the RTW desk did not know of its existence. The guy was emphatic that I would need a TA.

cheers

Ticketed through AA in New Zealand today. Interestingly the AA office in NZ charges a $77 booking fee. All up price still way cheaper than paying Aussie prices - thanks again to KF for the help.

You'll find the "AA office in NZ" is physically located at a "Mindpearl" office in Brisbane.

Don't worry about Oz prices. AA's "Oz" office is in the same location at AA's NZ office ("Mindpearl" office in Brisbane) and charges AUD60 for the same privilege.

(Sometimes you even get the same operator )

Much easier now than the period when it went through Delhi. Of course better still was the AA office in Queen Street.
