RTW: 3 continents not 4?

Hi there

Planning a AONE3 ex-TLV. TLV is one of the cheapest cities for a RTW at the moment.

My itinerary is:

TLV-LHR-SFO-LAX-JFK-BGI-JFK,BOS-DEN-LAX-SYD-BNE-SYD-WLG-SYD-LHR-TLV

It's been validated by MileageMonkey (http://slfft.allhyper.com/0.95/award...LG-SYD-LHR-TLV). It's confirmed as a 3 continent trip:

1: TLV-LHR: 1st of 4 (Europe)
2: LHR-SFO: 1st of 1 (intercontinental entry to North America without immediate transit & departure)
3: SFO-LAX: 1st of 6 (North America)
4: LAX-JFK: 1st of 1 (North America Transcon)
*4: LAX-JFK: 2nd of 6 (North America)
5: JFK-BGI: 3rd of 6 (North America)
6: BGI-JFK: 4th of 6 (North America)
7: JFK-BOS: surface
8: BOS-DEN: 5th of 6 (North America)
9: DEN-LAX: 6th of 6 (North America)
10: LAX-SYD: intercontinental
11: SYD-BNE: 1st of 4 (Southwest Pacific)
12: BNE-SYD: 2nd of 4 (Southwest Pacific)
13: SYD-WLG: 3rd of 4 (Southwest Pacific)
14: WLG-SYD: 4th of 4 (Southwest Pacific)
15: SYD-LHR: intercontinental
16: LHR-TLV: 2nd of 4 (Europe)

When I use the oneworld planner, it's pricing the trip as follows:
1 Adult(s) x (10,000.00 + 1,314.72) = 11,314.72 USD

However, 10,000 USD is the price for a AONE4. Or have I got it wrong?

all the SYD-LHR flights transit Asia , therefore it is a four continent itinerary regardless of whether actually choose to stopover in Asia or just transit .

See paragraph j on page 4 of the oneworld explorer rule sheet:

Travel between Australia and Europe on a single flight number is considered travelling SW Pacific-Asia-Europe through three continents.

Fair enough. I was judging data from MM to be implicit info because it just lists the continents Europe, North America and Southwest Pacific.

And to underwater's comment, I've chosen a single flight number without stopover back to London so that SHOULD mean Asia isn't counted as a continent.

Is there anyway of checking before booking? Do I HAVE to book online, or can I contact either a local (UK) or TLV BA office?

Even if its a single flight number, it IS counted as stopping in Asia.

The rules are clear - Asia is counted on those flights even if only transited on a single flight number, single coupon. You don't have to rely on interpretation for this rule - the experience of many FTers (including me) is that is how it works.

It's clear to OneWorld that you can't get to/from SWP (South-west Pacific) on any 3-continent (xONE3) itinerary. If you look at their pricing, there are no OneWorld Explorer 3-continent prices ex-Australia (or other SWP countries).

They do have 3- & 4-continent Circle Explorer fares, but these are a different product which do not allow RTW travel. (I believe that you can pass through the allowed no. of continents, but can't go to or through North or South America.)

Apologies to all--I didn't read the original replies from kiwiandrew and underwater... That's what happens when still recovering from jet lag! Regardless of the clarity of rules, I was still seeing a single flight number meaning two continents. Case of foot and mouth!

Will rejig intn to do an Asia trip!

It's a pity that OW don't offer a flight from South Africa to South America.
