I would suggest that AA, BA and QF is the core of the alliance. CX whilst very important does not have the breadth of ties with the other alliance members in comparison with QF. There is no JSA between CX and BA for example, nor is there as much codesharing as can be found between AA, BA and QF.

Agree. If there is a "core" then it would be AA/BA/QF.
