Anyone thought South America?

On another thought, an OW do would NEED to have something to do with FRA, since it's the only airport all members fly to...

passing by down under?

I would put a vote in for SYD or AKL, being over this side of the world Although they are not brimming with OW partners...

SYD - QF CX JL BA LA
AKL - QF CX LA

Not too bad a representation , in any case , is there truly anywhere which can be said to be 'brimming' with OW partners ? ... it is only a little alliance after all ( this site really needs a 'smiley' for 'duck and run for cover' )

That is the point of an alliance, right? Can't fly everywhere...

LAX would be nice too: AA, BA, CX, JL, LA, QF and new member MX (missing IB, RJ, AY, and MA)

Also FCO has pretty high representation:

I count AA, AY, BA, CX, IB, JL, MA, and RJ. 8/11

That would be a nice place for a DO!

I've travelled on flimsier pretexts - so count me as a definite maybe, RTW4.

Not fussed where it should be. Best avoid South Africa next June/July, though.

Lightbulb major partner touches?!

Yah, intended to be taken out of context! Seriously, would it make sense to possibly have miles/routes with all major Oneworld partners? So obviously AA, BA, JAL, Quantas, but since regular FF probably don't want to recreate a normal travel week, getting touches on some of the more obscure partners (Royal Jordanian, Malev) would be attractive.

I'd vote for an operational tour of BA's worldwide fleet command, as well as a tour of Boeing in Seattle. :-:

Since this is purely conjecture at this point, no thought about routing, costs, or other details have taken place.

Fully agree we should go to school on the *A mega-do, and learn what they'd keep & change.

Work & such permitting, this could be a possibility for me too, but in a very vacation intensive yr it could be just wishful thinking. Always nice to have a plan on the books though.

I'd recommend considering Vancouver, where OW has its headquarters.

Taking a page from the Star people, maybe some kind of "VIP" tour of the Boeing widebody plant (in Everett, 20 min. north of Seattle and 3 hrs on the train south from YVR) might be possible - by then (God willing) they ought to be in full swing on 787 assembly and flight testing/delivery.

Only hitch in YVR would be the Olympics, but I imagine by the time this is organized the winter games would be long over.

Vancouver is served by AA, BA, CX and JL (and a big do would be a good venue to pitch QF re-entering the market.)

Have I missed timing discussions? If May/June, there could be Alaska cruise add-ons for any interested parties (ANC and adjacent Lake Hood are plane-spotters' paradises.)

Apologies, FT has been inaccessible for me the past several days.

If you are wanting some kind of official OW involvement in the do (like the *A one) then it will likely require someone with good contacts with OW &/or 1+ main airlines within the alliance in order to get anything arranged.

Everything else is mere wish list and speculation.

If anyone does have such contacts and can help out then please post here, or contact the OP or me by PM/email.
