OW RTW booking engine

Apologies if this is covered elsewhere but am trying to book a RTW in F from GRU (and thereafter CPT/DPS/SYD/AKL/SCL/GRU) and would appreciate any advice as to how to avoid
1) Eccentric routings (eg F GRU/CPT offered GRU/MAD/LHR/CPT with no F GRU/MAD, obviously
2) Mysterious warning messages ie 'you must be booked on this carrier to select this segment - please choose another flight'

Any tips greatly appreciated.

There is a OneWorld forum where the people know these things inside out and back the front. You would have been better off posting there.

To avoid crazy routings you don't want simply enter each flight sector separately as you want them.

The messages about carrier usually come up if you are trying to pick a code share and the traffic rights don't permit the code share unless you are connecting to or from the code share carrier for the next/previous sector.

I wanted to fly SIN-NRT on the QF code share but it wouldn't let me do it because my next/previous carrier was not QF. However I could do NRT-SIN on the QF code share because my next flight on the ticket was QF metal to MEL.

Many thanks Moomba, didn't even know there was a OW forum but now do and will research there. Ain't it grand here on FlyerTalk?

Your routing could look something like:

GRU-LHR-CPT-JNB-HKG-DPS-HKG-SYD-AKL-SCL-GRU

All long haul segments except AKL-SCL have F but HKG-SYD might disappear in the future.

This leaves you with plenty of segments for other flights if you want to.

I am not sure where those warning messages came from but it might have something to do with codeshares which you can only book in conjunction with a longhaul flight on this carrier.

By the way, welcome to the OW forum. This place is famous for inventing complicated routing, not avoiding it.

If you don't mind backtracking, SYD-EZE may be avaialble in F on QF - but its currently not offered - but may come back. And some SYD-HKG flights on QF are by A330 - so no F on those.

Many thanks for the help/suggestions. As mentioned, I hadn't realised this forum was here and am looking forward to exploring another mine of invaluable information.
