QF or UA more reliable to Australia?
I basically have to decide if I want to take Qantas or United TPAC from California. My full conundrum, for those who are interested, is described here:

I'd appreciate any relative punctuality stats, stats about mechanical delays, cancellations, etc, on Qantas and United.
Or if stats aren't available, anecdotal views would be helpful.
Thank you.

Have you checked out sites like flightstats.com?
Judging by FT threads, UA has worse reliability than QF although Qantas' JFK-LAX-SYD flight (108) is often late, and in case of mechanical it seems LAX-AKL-MEL flight (26) may get the short straw for shuffling a/c around.
Dont forget NZ also flies these routes.
