Use it or loose it ?
Am booked TXL-JFK-BOS-JFK-TXL (Berlin) and will have to find a connecting flight from BOS to the West Coast after arrival time @ BOS of 6.25 pm - which seems impossible until the next morning - which in turn would torture me with a 12-hour layover.
I'm having a major brain-freeze and it's probably the dumbest question already asked multiple times, but can I forfeit the leg JFK-BOS in order to be able to fetch a red-eye from JFK, without jeopardizing the rest of my itinerary ?
Or is it: "use it or loose it" ?
Any advice greatly appreciated !

If you don't get on the plane from JFK-BOS, the BOS-JFK-TXL portion of your trip will be cancelled and you will not be able to get it back.
Also, 12 hrs is not that unreasonable for two seperately ticketed reservations, the 2nd following a TATL connection thru JFK :-x

Virgin America has a flight dep BOS for LAX at 8.30pm. Why couldn't you take that?

I believe that if you no-show for the JFK-BOS, you're at high risk of having them cancel the rest of your BOS-JFK-TXL. I'd check in to an airport hotel, or alternately go into the city and stay up all night!

Going to LAX does reduce your layover however.
