Consolidated "WorldPerks Visa Gone" Thread

I received a letter from Jeff Robertson, Vice President in charge of Delta Loyalty programs in response to my request that Delta keep the Visa card when the companies are merged. He stated that it was a done deal, American Express will be the elclusive credit card for the new Delta. He also said that there would be 10 different products in the American Express line, whatever that means, and also there would be some Visa debit cards associated with Delta.

I just hope it means that there will be a Delta Reserve card that doesn't have CRC membership and thus a lower annual fee. I still have (for now) my lifetime WC membership, but wouldn't mind the bump that Reserve card members get in upgrade priority.

There is also a US Bank WP Visa Debit card. My point is that DL should've at least put on a Visa/Mastercard, instead of running an all Amex show.

2 billion dollars in Skymiles purchases goes a long way toward overlooking competitors. I won't carry a AMEX due to some games they played with me in the past.

This is a profoundly stupid move. No Amex for me, ever.

Probably not worldwide....

As Worldperk members span across the globe, I'd presume some international members will be able to retain the benefits of having a Visa card..... (eg.
Citibank Worldperk card in Japan....) unless that's also going away...

20k miles (+5K for cards for additional family members), 1st yr. fee waived, use once, cancel. Never kick a gift horse in the mouth.

Indeed, we also prefer visa.

I don't think ANY US carrier has a relationship with two credit card issuers in the same country for their credit card product.

It wouldn't make financial sense for Delta to have both Amex and US Bank credit cards, especially when Amex just purchased so many more miles from Delta.

Does anyone have any inside information on when current WorldPerks Visa cards will stop accruing miles, or what card US Bank is likely to send to cardholders as a replacement?

US Bank WP Visa to be phased out by end of 2009, but US Bank Worldperks Visa Debit Card to continue.

IIRC, USBank said something about the card going away in September. I'm assuming they will steer cardholders to their travel rewards card:

It appears to work through Travelocity somehow

We all knew this was going to happen. Amex is starting to get monopoly over loyalty cards. Together, Amex & DL will begin further devaluation very shortly.
