Moving - Time to switch to DL ??
I moved from Minneapolis where I flew NW exclusively and was Plat. I'm now in Boston where I have more flight options on Delta. Do people think I am better off now earning directly on Delta for status ?? I am most concerned about getting upgrades. I guess the underlying question is does Delta currently treat their own program members better than the NW members. Thanks in advance for suggestions.

Take a few moments to read the threads about the changes to worldperks and glance over at the DL forum. Especially look at the threads about the changes in award travel fees.
DL/NW will become one and the same slymiles program by the end of the year.
If you have a choice, get out now. Seriously. I am committed at this point since just last week I qualified for PE for 2 more dreadful years (committed myself to the flights last March), and I am in central MN where it is very difficult to change (NW Airlink is our only service).
I would never jump into either DL or NW at this point. Their freq flyer programs are going downhill....very fast.

If you want to stick with DL, I would seriously consider getting them to status match you to DL Platinum. There is something wrong with DL upgrade algorithim that is screwing over Northwest elites (giving NW Platinums lower priority that even DL Silvers).

Although there's been some talk of this, I think it's probably more accurate to say DL Plats get upgraded before NW Plats, DL Golds get upgraded before NW Golds, etc. I know for a fact that the "algorithm" is not so screwed up that FOs are getting upgraded over NW Plats.

Not gonna happen. Once the merger was announced, they pretty much stopped doing status matches. Even before the merger, intra-SkyTeam status matches were few and far between.

SO let me know what the problem is so I can get up-graded on flight 22 this Friday. I have had this same problem since early December on flight 22, and no-one has been able to determine the problem.

NW K fare?
I suspect Delta may more heavily weigh fare class in the upgrade algorithm. They seem to weigh it pretty heavily in everything else.

Welcome to Delta Airlines, where management views the customers as the enemy or sheep to be fleeced.

I'm sort in the opposite camp actually, with DL FO (should hit gold this year) although I am flying almost all NW and I keep my DL number on.
