There are some drastic changes to the FB program as of April 1, 2009. The most notable one being the new mileage earning scheme for Y: FB members will earn 25%, 50%, 75% or 100% mileage, depending on the paid fare class. (Only the Y/B equivalent fare classes will earn 100% miles.) This will likely impact the WP program as well.
More details in THIS thread. For the detailed new mileage earnings see post #100.

Earning as per fare class was in force before and WP members didn't exactly earn plenty of miles by flying AF cheaply:
It was/is just a matter of time till it was extended to KL earning.

I highly doubt this will spread to North American, or even be wide spread in europe for that matter.
If anything somthing like this will acturally make they miles we already have more valueable, but if DL has its way, they'll just keep adding new ways to earn miles and make them worth less and less.

clarification
What I meant by the heads-up is soon WP members may only earn some fraction of miles for flying AF or KL. Right now only really cheap AF fares earn 25%. (AFAIK the classes that earn 50% are only domestic AF flights.) ALL KL paid fares earn 100%. (I'm only talking about Y here.)
The impact? We may have to steer clear off AF or KL for TATL fligths and try to fly directly to EU cities rather than connecting in AMS or CDG.

It looks as though DL currently offers 100% or 150% mileage on ALL KL and AF flights.

A lot of the international airlines give less then 100%. Not a big suprise. I think AC tried selling fares that earn no miles and I am sure USair will try soon to sell tickets with no miles.

There are paid flights on AF-KL that when credited to DL do not earn even 100% mileage -- even when some of those same flights credited to NW earn(ed) 100% mileage.
What is to be seen is if DL's "harmonization" of "best of both" ends up being the worst of both/all for DL and NW customers in this area too.

If i remeber correctly When Korean air got fined for monopolistic actions by the british government they decreased their lower fare to only 50% RDM yeild , but after a while its now back at 100%, any chance things will be back to normal after the recession?

I am not sure how you motivate customers to give more repeat business in this environment if you strip down the value proposition like AF-KL and DL-NW are doing by way of the "loyalty" program(s).

DL does not currently offer 100% or 150% mileage on all KL and AF flights.

Look at KLM fares booked in E, N and V.
KL E/N/V earn when credited to NW. Now look to see if they earn when credited to DL.
What do you come back with?

And on Air France operated flights, A/L/N/G inventory provide either full or partial mileage earning credit to NW but nothing if credited to DL.
