Need help with Worldperks Mall problem

I realize this isn't necessarily a Worldperks problem but figured someone here might be able to help me.

I seem to be having a problem (and I know it's my computer) with some of the shop now links in the worldperks mall. If I click on shop now for some merchants, I get an error that IE cannot display the webpage.

As best as I can tell, the links that take you directly to the merchants site work fine. By that I mean, when I click on shop now, if the URL that pops up in the address bar is www dot nameofmerchant dot com/someotherlettersandnumbers, it works fine. However, if the URL that pops up has some odd address I have problems. If I delete most of the address except the .com part, it takes me to commission junctions website.

I know it's not the link itself because it works on my work computer. So there appears to be something on my laptop that doesn't like the commission junction links and I have no idea what it is.

Anyone have any idea how I can fix this? I've tried the simple stuff such as deleting cookies, temp files, rebooting, making sure IE7 is up to date. Also tried lowering my security setting to low in case that helped but it didn't.

If you've read this far and have a suggestion, thanks for trying to help.

Try Firefox?

Yes, I know that it probably works fine in IE on your work computer, but maybe there's something peculiar with the IE install on your personal machine.

it's an immediate error msg. i click on shop now, you can see the URL show up in the address bar and instead of the webpage showing up, I get the IE blank page with just the "IE cannot display this webpage" error.

I'm pretty sure that i am using a HOSTS file and I think that the only thing that I have blocked is tribalfusion but i will check that and see.

I was trying to get to BestBuy so I know that one is one of them but I can't remember which other ones I tried that didn't work.

I'll post a few of them later if necessary when I get home. (At work now, but obviously not working )

Best Buy uses commission junction as its affiliate portal (which passes the info from the rewards mall to best buy and back). They redirect through a bunch of domains that are all nonsense names.

Any form of ad blocking software including host file implementation can interfere with mileage credit from any of the malls so if you are using it, be prepared to be told by the malls that there is no record of your transaction and you aren't getting any credit. Doesn't happen all the time (since each of the 4 major and many minor affiliate portals have their own domains they redirect through etc) but does happen.

The Tribalfusion website is java-enabled. Maybe you're blocking java, or using an older version?

I'm not actually trying to use tribalfusions website. That came up as a response to the question about using a HOSTS file.

Any of the shop now links that use commission junction is what I'm having problems with. Something on my computer is blocking the referal/redirect or whatever it is called (not too tech savvy on that stuff).

That's what I'm looking for is suggestion on what might be blocking it. Any software that I've got running that might block ads, etc, I've turned off and i'm still having the issue.

Problem solved

In case anyone else has a similar problem, it turned out that Spybot was preventing access via the commission junction referal. Not sure why as I have Spybot on my work computer and I didn't have the same issue. Anyway, turning off Spybot allowed me to access the stores I needed to access.
