330 or 747?
So I'm planning to burn some miles for a late-summer WBC trip to Europe. One 747 is showing up on DTW-AMS, and I'm wondering if I should try to plan my flights around it since I've never been on one. Any thoughts about flying the 747 vs. the 330 to Europe (or back). Tried some searches, but nothing was jumping out at me.

I'd go for the 747, if at least because we can guess that the 330's will outlive the 747's, so you'll have more of a chance in the future to fly one.

The layout of WBC on the 330 fits like a glove. On the 747 it's a obviously they retrofitted the 330 WBC seats to fit the 747. On the other hand some people like the ride on the 747 better than the airbus as it tends to have a little less bounce during turbulence.

While both are good aircraft, I'd think the novelty of being able to fly a premium class on a 747 is inherently neat.

I like the upper deck on the 744 or the center seat in the nose downstairs. The 330 is nice too because if you're traveling by yourself you can take an aisle seat in the center section and not have to worry about disturbing anyone when you get up.

In WBC I love the novelty of flying the 747...although I think NW does a better job with the A330s...in coach the A330 is far superior.

It's also a unique experience to fly in the nose of a 747.

absolutely 747 upper deck, try to get window exit row, or window in the nose lower deck. lower deck nose has great forward visibility with the exreme curvature of the plane. there is nothing like getting on a 747 and knowing u have a nice seat waiting

Went ahead and booked the 747 for the return AMS-DTW (wasn't able to get it for the outbound). Can't do seat assignments quite yet, but definitely hoping to snag something upstairs. Thanks for all the replies!
