Sleeping through an upgrade

If I am not upgraded to first class, I will almost always settle back in my coach seat and sleep - many times I'm out before take off.
On a flight last Monday MSP-ABQ, I had not slept well the night before and was dozing off before we even left the gate. The plane was full and I was settled in.
I was stirred in my sleep when I thought I heard someone call my first name. I heard a "That's me!" and someone (GA? FA? Don't know) was dealing with a passenger a row behind me.
I went back to sleep, which I did for most of the flight (5A on an A320 is comfy enough)
Earlier today I checked my activity on the NWA website, and, lo and behold, my class flown/paid for that flight is F/L!
It appears someone, not me, grabbed my upgrade for the flight. Shame on me for not paying attention. Shame on him for not 'fessing up that he was not deserving . I don't have an unusual first name, but it does have variations in spelling. Shame on the GA or FA for not confirming the passenger.
Lesson learned? Stay awake until you are off the ground!

Was this announcement done using the PA system?
If you're in 5A, I don't understand why the GA/FA can't just walk to your seat and ask you to move.
And yeah, that was a jerk move on that PAX part. Smart at the same time too

I thought they took your ticket when they gave you a new one, just for that reason.

I was on that flight, and the GA who came onboard tried to rouse you, but it didn't work. So two FA's carried you forward into the the first class seat.
You must have dreamt the rest.

You're looking at this problem with FT knowledge, and assuming the other PAX had similar knowledge.
It is far more likely that the guy the row behind you was a clueless tourist PAX who heard his name and just followed the instructions, assuming he was just the luckiest ....... ever, and the GA/FA was simply off a row.
Unfortunate, but I have to say, kinda funny at the same time.
On the flip side, you were asleep, so not like you missed anything.
(I like F because it's much easier to get to sleep in the first place.)
