Some changes for the summer schedule

I was poking around the latest downloadable timetable and noticed some new things at the red tail. I believe most of these changes start June 10.

MSP-ORD 9am departure now an avro, 10am return

MSP-ATL 1115am departure now an avro, 1550 return

MSP-CLT avro returns 1015am dep, 1405 return

MSP-YYZ new CRJ serivce
MSP-TVC new CRJ service

MSP-CVG avro returns to the 5pm dep with a 630am return

MSP-AUS avro on the 7am dep, 1050am return * in pars but not the downloadable timetable

MSP-SGF as announced new CRJ service

DTW-ORD looks like 1 way only, 2100 return

DTW-YHZ now 2 CRJs instead of 1 avro 1015am and 1815 dep with 820 and 1500 return

DTW-CLT avro is back for the 2055 dep with a 620am return

DTW-BGR upgaged avro service 905am and 2100 departures for 1200n and 600 return

DTW-PHL avro on the 855am dep with 1935 return

DTW-STL avro service 1700 dep, 1840 return

DTW-LEX 2055 dep upgages to DC9 from avro with 955 return - used to be 3454/3457

MEM-ORD new avro service 1420 and 1825 dep with 1132 and 1645 return

MEM-XNA upgaged to 2 DC9 and an avro

MEM-SGF upgaged to 2 DC9s and an avro

MEM-STL goes all mainline with DC9s, upgaged from avros

I might have missed a few and this ofcourse is always subject to change. I thought you all would enjoy this.

Looks like Happy Trails to you! Enjoy.

More new places to see from the pilot's seat.

It looks like the beginning of NW's move towards more regional flying.

With flights like MSP-ORD/ATL/YYZ, DTW-PHL/STL/ORD, and MEM-ORD, and all the new routes, it looks like Northwest Airlink will be doing more flying (either that or NW is losing against competitors on these routes).

Every one of the routes keithguy mentions is to another airline's hub. On those routes, frequency is king! NW will downgauge to keep up its frequency.

With the 9's being put in cities like LEX, XNA & SGF, they have to come from somewhere (or did I miss the press release about NW buying even more 9's?).

(Yes, I know Pinnacle is adding even more of the passenger-less-friendly CRJs....)

Thanks for the heads-up, azj! The nine PM from DTW to LEX is our most common flight, and we've missed having it around the last two months.... only downside of switching it to a 9 is a few front cabin seats go missing! But we're plats now, at least.

The third frequency on MSP-YEG will return for the summer:

MSP-YEG NW1021 1706-1903
YEG-MSP NW1024 1015-1355

Ditto into YYC:

MSP-YYC NW1539 1650-1853
YYC-MSP NW1544 1020-1404

Not such great aircraft utilisation here, as these aircraft are not used past 7pm and then aren't active again until past 10 the next morning.

It doesn't look like the non-stop DTW-YYC is loaded back into the schedule yet. I wonder how the loads were on that last summer?

Doobierw - with all due respect do you honestly believe that the upgaging and downgaging of NW flights is keeping you on the street? I don't like to think I'm stealing someones job when the a/c I fly is assigned to a route once formerly flown by 9s. I guess the alternative is to cost prohibitively put 9s and such on all the routes they're not making money on, bring you all back and then bleed more red ink.

Incidently, while XJ was in contract negotiations YOUR union said that most of the furloughs at NW didn't come as a result of XJ and 9E taking over flying, but came from the retirement of widebodies and it trickeled down to the bottom of the seniority list. Because of our new contract, XJ his hiring. And we all know PNCL is growing and hiring and has a deal with your pilot group to hire NW furloughees into the right seat of the 9. Maybe you should look into that for the time being...

It's hard not to take things like this personally, so I won't if you won't.

A little off topic, but I didn't know if I should read your comment as a slam to the Airlinkers or if it was just sarcasm.

If that's the case, then it's even a greater likelihood of more Northwest Airlink flying to major cities.

So instead of replacing two DC-9 flights with one DC-9, NW would replace it with two RJs to keep up frequency.
