Waitlist for upgrade on KLM
I have several trips coming up that would involve a portion of my travel to be completed on KLM intra European flights (coded as KLM on KLM metal). I purchased B fares with NW and upgraded with miles for all segments, except for one on each itenerary (those specific segments were not available for an upgrade at D bucket at the moment of booking).
Tried asking to be waitlisted on those KLM segments for an upgrade, was told that "NW doesn't do that on KLM intra European flights"
Well, following the "call until you get the answer you want" rule, yesterday talked to an agent who was able to waitlist me on the flights I wanted. She told me that 'the system took it", but as NW agents do not have access to KLM waitlists, she could not tell me how the clearance for waitlists works.
Has anyone had experience with that? Does NW notify you once the space is cleared or does it only happen at the airport (upon which they would collect $50 fee for redeposit of NW miles I assume)? Do these lists ever clear? And the final question, why only one out of 15 or 20 agents/supervisors I spoke with only one was able to put me on a waitlist and knew how to do it? Seems strangely inconsistant

You might see my description of what happened to my "wait listed" upgrade at:

This was back in 1998, but I really do not know if anything has changed!

"Dear Mr Rebel,
Thank you for your email regarding your upgrades.
Please rest assured that we always strive to honor upgrades for our Platinum members. However we cannot waitlist upgrades any longer [...]"
I can't imagine they would waitlist WP members, but not FD members. But then again, when it comes to KLM you never know!
