FAQ: Fare Class Definitions (including which fares are upgradeable)
As IndustrialPatent wrote in his thread
"using miles to upgrade use the award charts to find appropriate mileage amounts
persons without WorldPerks Elite status:
Any fare other than T or K can be upgraded; upgrades from Y come from P and upgrades from discounted fares come from F.
persons with WorldPerks Elite status:
Y fares will receive a complimentary upgrade if there is P availability; all others can be upgraded with miles."

the complimentary elite upgrades for any non-Y fare (i.e. anything but a full fare) come from the F bucket. if your upgrade hasn't cleared after midnight the day before your flight, look for F inventory, not P. <font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2">Originally posted by JBLUA320:

the only way you draw an elite upgrade from the P bucket is if you purchase a full Y fare, in which case you can confirm your upgrade at the time of purchase.
