Upgrades - window/aisle
Has anyone found "problems" with NW's EUA (elite upgrade automation) process in terms of putting you in a window or aisle seat?
My profile has always said I prefer window seats. Everytime I fly NW, it's always a connecting flight as I don't have a reason to be in MSP/DTW/MEM.
When I'm upgraded...90% of the time, one of the flights is upgraded to an aisle and one is upgraded to a window seat. Any idea why this happens? I always have to call NW and ask them to change one of the flights.
I've also written them emails about their process and they can't give me clear answers on why this happens.
Does this happen to anyone else?
Thanks,
Rob

It happens to me all the time too. I'm happy for the upgrade so I just go and change it to a window seat.

Same here. IMHO, window seat in F is better than aisle in Y.

I have an aisle preference and typically get it as I need to hop up to the lav more often than most and don't want to bother people to get out. Last week I somehow landed in a window seat on a flight and was worried that my somewhat hostile-looking seatmate in the aisle seat would not take kindly to having to let me get by 2-3x on a 3-hour flight. However, to my delight, he kept drinking glass after glass of water the FA offered so every time he jumped up so did I. With that kind of an aisle seatmate, I'm perfectly happy with the window.
But bottomline is I'll take whatever I can get in F.

I have never cared what seat I get in FC. Only time I have called is to change a coach seat.

I have ALWAYS been upgraded to an aisle seat, then called and got changed to window seat, which is what is my preference states in my profile...I asked on phone and they said profile preference isn't used when assigning uprgrade seat.

I've found that the system is pretty good about dumping me in an aisle seat if one is available.
