Stay tuned. RC |

Regarding a new uniform sighting... you very well could have seen a Compass FA. Their uniforms are charcoal grey with a blue shirt and scarf/tie. I understand the new NWA uniform will also be charcoal grey but with more color accent pieces. It's rumoured that the Mesaba FAs will also get new unis.

I'd beg to differ on the F meals on CO, far superior to NW. I did a red eye recently from SJO to EWR and the snack was lobster bisque and a reuben sandwich!

Speaking of IFE...NW is on the right track not offering it on domestic flights. The offerings on CO don't justify the expense, IMO. Just throwing that out there before somebody suggests spending the money on IFE instead of uniforms. I think new uniforms are a great idea. One thing CO and DL both have is a more professional appearance to their front-line staff. I've seen some pretty ragged NW FAs. They may routinely get new uniforms, as mentioned earlier, but it doesn't appear they always switch out the old. |
Why, oh why doesn't NW play up the RED?? How about charcoal gray pieces with deep (not bright) red accents (blouses, shirts, scarves, etc)?
Same for a/c interiors - I really thought with the new A330's and the (then) new logo, NW, would splash a little red (or maroon) in the cabins. I think that should be some sort of marketing thing - play up the (shades of) red!! |
I agree and I have heard there will be red accents in the uniform. I think they haven't done more red in the cabin because it isn't as soothing and calming as the blues/grays. I think they could have at least gone with red pillows and cloth head rests.

On the other hand, red is also associated with people eating more food at a restaurant. Maybe NW should put red in their cabin to drive sales of their (awful) snack boxes? -RM |

Depending on what study you read and/or believe, red is the color of aggression. Apparently reds can induce fits of rage. Maybe that's why NW has shied away from putting red in the cabin.

I remember seeing a pic of the interior of some European airline's aircraft online, which was done similarly, and thinking it was REALLY attractive. |
Kudos to more formal attire for the agents. It was an early 90s experiment in Wal Mart business casual gone awry.

I just think an airline's colors should be reflected inside the cabin, as well as outside. I mean, you just wouldn't expect granny-blue seats inside an aircraft with a great color scheme like NW's.

Good point! Remember the old red seats? Check out the pics on airliners...not too pretty! And spend some time on Ryanair...a little color is a good thing, but too much and too bright, and it's just not pleasant. The new A330 fabric is nice. Simple, subtle, and clean. The old blue (doesn't it have some ugly red accents?) looks worn, dated and dirty, but certainly better than the coach bus seats of UA. The gray also seems to get a bit drab quickly...and no one wants to sit on a black seat!

Those boots would really be a pain to take off for TSA security check points. :D |

IFE is great for killing time on longer flights, but on shorter flights, I'd rather read or do work for a bit. Not worth the investment IMHO. Also agree with the new uniforms. If the FAs have been requesting them, the move will (or should) help to make them feel better about their jobs. I have to believe that will translate into fewer negative atitudes. |

I know DL hired a famous designer - forget who - but the employees love them!
NWA's new uniforms will be designed by Twin Hill, a subsidiary of Men's Warehouse. NWA plans a major 'fashion show' launch for the new attire at DTW the beginning of next week, complete with a giant runway surrounding the McNamara Terminal water feature and two days a pre-shows for press and photographers. Guess it's a big deal! |
