Let's see....I can get the Woodford at a DL CRC, and the newer WC's have the fireplace. I'm not sure there is any airport that would have both - means I'll have to spring for a bottle for home and light up my own fireplace.

Glad things came out fairly good for you. I've found that NW usually comes through pretty good.

That would be the hope if we live in the U.S. Eurolovers feel otherwise.

Now, that's the spirit ^^^

though, I'm currently drinking Sam Houston; since, it was on sale at the state store, and I love a bargain. Of course, I've got a stash of Woodford minis --- just in case ;) (hmmmm... wonder where those came from....)

So, Yaatri, will you join us for a relaxing drink. :D

This is the most stunning part of your post!

I'm glad I didn't get involved in the original thread...:D

NW is usually slightly generous in the customer's favor when converting KL certs/refunds to $.

Yaatri, I'm glad things worked out well.

Here is an example of a well reasoned and balanced post. Sticking to the topic without digressing, without getting bogged down with insisting it was my fault, recognising the fact even if GA were correct and within rules, an offer was made and the amount to be given was switched later on.

Personally, I would do a TTU to NWA about the problem, since you're a Plat. I've done this when I had problems with a KLM flight ex YVR, and NW compensated me. So it should certainly work for a NW flight ex-AMS. :)

While the agent may be correct within the rules for compensation, the offer was given, and you accepted it. While I wouldn't count on the cash, perhaps some miles or a voucher might be coming your way.

Here is an example of a post that tried to deny all circumstances and It was not deliberate misinformation. You entered into a situation without knowing the clearly stated rules.focuses entirely on why the compensation must be reduced and that I had no basis to question the conduct of the GA. An attempt to shift the onus for the switch on my conduct and make irrelevant suggestions that I should have asked for the rules before I volunteered , although I had already made it clear the GA switched the offer at the end.

The airlines are required to give you the DB rules if you ask. If you were so concerned about getting what was due, you should have asked for a copy of the rules before you volunteered your seat. Where is your responsibility?

Here is another non-judgemental post in good faith.

but, in all seriousness, why do you need the apologies?

We're all friends here :D The debate, and contrary opinions, are just the general nature of FlyerTalk.

Yes. I am happy at NW's decision, even if some people want to second guess why NW offered me the amount it did. ;)

It's also a matter of principle. When an amount is mentioned without any qualification I expect it to be honoured. If people can say one thing and then switch it later on, the entire point of asking is lost.

I have no problems with the airline not agreeing to upgrade B, which was a mistake fare, like the one that was offered for OTP, although one can argue that he airline must honour it.

This is just a consolation prize -- a good will gesture for family of Plats. Remember that you were demanding an additional 300 Euro each, and my arithmetic says you're 3 x 200 = 600 Euro short of that.

The agent might have been wiser to say "300-600 Euro depending on how much later you arrive", etc., but you can't expect her to stand there reciting the entire policy manual while she's asking people to volunteer.

In the original thread, you admit that you were given an opportunity to board your originally scheduled flight when you objected to the "switch". You should count your blessings (to the tune of 1200 Euro = $1980) and move on.

The link to the original thread is incorrect. This is the orginal thread: Bait and Switch

The whole thing is ridiculous. Some of you naysayers claim that it was my fault for not asking the GA for the rules before I voluteered, and some others, like yourself say, it's not possible for her to read the rules. Why should I not take her word when she said the compensation was 600 Euros? She could also have said the compmensation was at least 300 Euros. I would not have complained if a higher amount had been offered at a later time. Why did she state the larger amount? Because it sounded better? In that case it was misleading. If she simply didnlt thnk, she was sloppy.

What side of the Mason-Dixon Line is MD on?

Last year following this thread was somewhat entertaining. Now you can't even recognize that the carcass is a dead horse. Bottom line is don't give up your seat without the facts. I sure hope we are beyond the days when you would have to give up your BP and then they tell you they don't need you and your seat is gone. Until I am guaranteed the voucher I don't give up the BP. If not ug'ed my exit row is the next best elite perk I have.

Can I ask why did you post 4 different replies in less than 5 min?

Only on FT would an equine cadaver attract 100 posts. Should we hold a postmortem for this Pegasus?

Agreed, lets get on with life and let this die a very quick death. Besides, who other than the OP really cares any more?

NO. :D. It's rather self evident. What got in your undies that you are trying to revive a thread, which by your own rant was dead. ;)
