Determining Waitlist position for upgrades

I was wondering if there is any way to find out your Waitlisted position for Elite Upgrades other than simply checking with the Gate agent. Is it possible to do over the phone?

You can call reservations and ask, but they've never been too keen to give out that information, usually just a "it looks good" or "it's not looking very promising", etc. If you have a WorldClub membership, you can try in there. Usually they are a little more forthcoming about the specifics.

I've been seeing new monitors being put up at many NW gates in different airports. Speculation is that a DL-inspired waitlist system is destined for the new monitors, so that would be handy.

I've never tried to get it over the phone, and if I did, I'd probably call a WC to ask. I've had very good luck in the WCs, but almost always with the "but that's subject to change" tacked on.

I really hope the monitors get used by NW for UG waitlists.

monitor isn't that exciting for me.
every thing is too obvious, so nothing is exciting anymore at battle field ups...
also paying F pax will think "when that many ppl gets upgrades, why would I pay?"

so lets keep things vague, and invest money on other things... such as ORD gate modernization..

No way! Keeping things vague is what leads to F seats going unecessarily empty, non-revs flyign up front while a Plat is in the back, etc, etc. Transparency a la Delta would be a *great* thing for NW elites.

Incidentally, it would also be great for the GAs -- no more dealing with 25 elites coming up three times each to "check" with them. It's all on the board and unambiguous. That gives them more time to deal with actual issues and get the flights out more timely. It's probably improve on their sunny demeanor, too.

peace,
~Ben~
