Regarding Transfer of Points to KLM

I have a few hundred thousand points on Worldperks and was thinking of moving them to KLM.

The goal is to issue tickets in Business Class for reward and if thats my only concern, is it easier to book a reward via KLM than NW. Cause with NW its impossible to get reward seats in WBC.

Any suggestions please. Cause if I give them my Indian Address as a permanent one, I am leagally allowed to transfer for 1 to 1 ratio.

Comments appreciated.

Swaghmar, tough to compare both without having more exact numbers.AFAIK NW`s award inventory is available to everyone, regardless of status or airline membership, so as a KLM member I should have the same inventory available as a AS customer or NW customer, even if I am an elite member.I once read here that NW can release more seats for elites without having any written rule for that....

The situation changes completely, when you are a KL Gold or Plat elite member.KLM probadly has the best award inventory rule for their elites in the industry, they release seats directly out of the "C" inventory for WBC flights and "B" inventory for Coach flights. Both represent the "second highest" booking class respectively, which results more or less in a guaranteed award seat to 99% of all KLM destinations. This rule is applicable on KL metal only.

Beside that KLM has removed quite a number of WBC seats on both the 767 and 747, but still has more WBC seats on all its intercontinental aircrafts than NW has on its DC 10.From a KLM perspective the DC 10 is the problem, tough to get anything upfront, award or upgrade. On the other hand it was relatively easy to get awards booked on the 744`s or 742`s out of AMS.

One big KLM advantage, their Web@wards are leading the industry. They are currently offering both ORD and JFK 25% off, MIA and LAX will be 50% off.We are talking about a 40000 miles WBC fare from Europe to LAX or MIA, literally guaranteed for a KLM elite member....

So if you can get an elite membership on KLM, KLM seems to be the better choice. But make sure to get more information how to get your tickets.AFAIK you have to pick them at any KLM office or they will be sent to your adress, which could be a problem, cause KLM has no airport office in the US....
