Service in B747 upper deck
Does anyone know how many FAs are there on the Upper Deck of B747-200? Is the service any better than on the Lower Deck? What kind of IFE does NW provide on these planes (transAtlantic)?
Do they have preboarding for WBC when departing out of the US? What about AMS?
I normally fly Trans Atlantic with Delta or VS, not familiar with NW WBC services. Thanks for your help.

Service is the same. Only seats are better. There's no overhead storage.

Though there is a decent sized storage unit next to the window seat. I'd recommend a window seat if you're upstairs and want easy access to carryon stuff.

I think service is slightly better on the upper deck in that the FAs carry your meal to your seat from the galley, instead of wheeling it to you in a dirty-looking cart like on the lower deck. (On the 747-400s, though, they use the dirty carts in the upper deck too.)

When you depart AMS, there is a separate line for security at the gate for WBC passengers. It was really nice - the normal line stretched around the corner...I felt kind of guilty (not really
). Of course, you get preboarding as well.

Upstairs is the ONLY way to go!!
Get a window seat and the storage compartment is like a coffee table or credenza...you can set your stuff on top of it during flight.
I was able to sit upstairs twice last year and just loved it!

When seats are upright, it looks like that row 86 has much more space than 85. When seats recline, I feel that the space is about the same.

Flew the 747-200 from SEA to NRT about two weeks ago in 85K (upper deck bulkhead window). I am 6'8" and found the legroom a little small. Row 86 looked the best to me or at least 85J which allows you to stick your legs out a little more because the bulkhead doesn't come entirely out in front of you.
